for my shirt project...i will be looking closely at...

shoulder details...
above, love the shield-y bust effect..love the print element, wanna incorporate this somehow...

of the three below, i am inspired by the structure/sculptural seams...aswell as the colour schemes and fabric choice...

i love all the minty, pink and lime combinations above

and below, the shoulders again, the fabric and the colour schemes...

drawing form the colour combo more than the textures...

the following represent bust details..the most important and interesting thing to me..
i like the fade-out black detail down the middle...

more bust deets i love...but really any of the above with an interesting twist on the bust dart area i like/wanna explore...as it is all shirt (top-half related)...

in short i want the minty, pink, limey colour scheme, mixed with sculptural stiff shiny fabric (not necessarily stiff silk) mixed with an antiquey print element!
i also have to have a traditional collar, cuffs and button holes!!

i have some metal thread in navy, aubegine, lime, fuschia, lilac and green so i was thinking that i could have a split sleeve (sort of like an extended cuff all the way up the arm) with button holes all the way up and then metal thread weaved through (in a particular pattern..i.e. so it actually looks good!) to keep the sleeve done up sorta like this...the thread is much thinner and bendier though...

anyone got any ideas...ems????

  1. how awesome are those seams/tucks? love how they aren't sewn all the way to the top but just left a bit to bulge out at the top of the seam. mmmmmm sweet goodnesssss. Completely dig the shoulder stuff AND the digital print. I am looking at accordion type stuff for u for possible bust/shoulder detailing. It would be good to do some accordion/complex pleating possibly with thin wire in the seams to have it stay where you want then scrunch it up and sew it into a shoulder or bust panel. I'll put some pics together after work today. The minty green "hard silk" i have might be really good I wonder if u could ask at the fabric shops over there to see if they have hard silk (i've never heard of it before I bought this one but it is australia...) the hard silk stands straight up in the air but might not be quite thick enough. Maybe silk with some metal in it might give that stiff look? As for the print u are amazing with that stuff. u could do ur mirroring in photoshop of some of my fungi pictures? I am fungi obsessed now hahaha also there are some really cool electron microscope photos around. I have some electron microscope pics of microscopic aquatic creature skeletons they are way cool. how do you fit all of the ideas into one shirt without it looking costume? AAAAHHHH!!! don't you just hate design briefs they cut you off at the knees.
